The Apprentice Works Chemist will be based at the Sheerness site and will support the Works Chemist. The primary function of this position is to provide the laboratory support required by the production and technical departments to satisfy their customers product requirements.
Your duties will include providing and promoting high standards within the laboratory environment. You will need to make sure the standards are applied and maintained in the areas of quality, health & safety and environmental impact.
Works Chemist Apprenticeship duties:
- To co ordinate and assist in the management and safe disposal of retained samples
- To assist with the testing of incoming materials
- To assist with the testing of blended materials prior to despatch
- To carry out the periodic testing equipment checks and calibrations
- Carry out the monthly laboratory chemical stock checks and ensure sufficient levels of chemicals and equipment are maintained within their specified shelf-life
- To assist in the production and issue of product samples, and technical information
- To assist the laboratory and production trials
- To participate in carrying out periodic site environmental related inspections and Health & Safety related inspections
- To participate in carrying out risk assessments
- To assist in the preparation and management of product sale specifications
- To carry out any other duties of a reasonable nature that may be requested from time to time by the Works Chemist and the Technical Director

You must have GCSE 7-4/A-C or equivalent in maths, English and science. Ideally an A Level or equivalent in Chemistry
