Held at the esteemed and luxurious Grosvenor House, Park Lane on Wednesday 25th April, over 100 different chemical organisations were represented at this years event, enjoying a day of fine dining, networking and speeches from Dr Stephen Cartlidge, President of the Association and Mottie Kessler, Chair of the association.
Guest speaker for 2018 was Andy McNab who provided a thoroughly entertaining story of his career to date, delivered with military precision to an audience of engrossed listeners, revelling in his tales of growing up, the SAS and his book and film career to date which have made him a household name.
This year’s charity was Catalyst Science Discovery Centre. A brilliant independent charity whose work ensures the chemical industry heritage of the North West is preserved whilst at the same time inspiring future generations of young scientists.
Located in one of the most deprived areas of the North West, Catalyst enables children, who wouldn’t normally have access to it, experience the wonder and excitement of science through their STEM activites including workshops, science clubs, exhibitions and historical archives.
Their museum, set in Cheshire, is at the heart of the charity and explores the development of the chemical industry from ancient times up to the 1940s, providing a vital educational base young children from across the UK. Also on the agenda for the day were the CBA annual Responsible Care awards. The Chemical Business Association was the first supply chain in Europe to launch Responsible Care over 25 years ago and continues to work hard in this area and recognise the contributions of it’s member’s work.
The event was well represented by Monarch Chemicals who took three tables this year to share with staff and special guests. The entire team had a productive and thoroughly enjoyable day, catching up with business associates and making new connections in the chemical industry.
It was another hugely successful event and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
