Boric Acid

Also known as orthoboric acid, boracic acid and borofax, Boric Acid is a water soluble, white powder with no perceptible odour.  It is used across a number of consumer products and offers a huge amount of uses within industrial applications and chemical formulations.

In domestic use, boric acid is found in cleaning and washing products, anti-freezes, adhesives, lubricants and is found in textile treatments and dyes. It is also used in the production of some electronics, furniture items, toys, clothes, paper and card products as well as being a component in construction materials.

Industrially, boric acid is used in the manufacture of textile fiberglass as well as in the production of fabricated metal items and in electroplating processes. Other uses include water treatment and pH adjustments, use as an insecticide in the control of small insects, as a wood and timber preservative, and also provides medical use as an antiseptic for minor cuts and burns.
