Benzotriazole

Benzotriazole is an odourless compound with the appearance of white to off-white needle like crystals or granules.

Also known by the name 1H-Benzotriazole this compound behaves as an acid and is soluble in alcohol and slightly soluble in water. This product is available from Monarch Chemicals packed in 25kg bags by the pallet. 

Known for its tremendous versatility, Benzotriazole is primarily used extensively as a corrosion inhibitor for copper and its alloys both in the atmosphere and under water, preventing unwanted surface reactions. Alongside use in water-cooling and metalworking applications this compound is also used in the construction industry as a tarnish remover and protective coating.

Other uses include benzotriazole as an ingredient in dishwashing chemicals for silver protection, metal polishes and anti-fogging agents. When applied to metal it forms an insoluble protective barrier film which is both wipe and wash resistant making it a key component across a wide variety of industries.
