Sodium Chloride
Salt (sodium chloride) exists in various forms and has many different uses within the chemical industry. It is naturally found in seawater and underground rock formations, where the sodium chloride is obtained by mining deposits or through evaporation processes.
The appearance of salt is a white crystalline odourless solid. It is readily soluble in water with a melting point of 801°c and a boiling point of 1413°c.
Beyond the most common use as table salt to flavour, or even preserve foods, this product has a number of valuable uses throughout multiple industries from intravenous salt solutions used in hospitals through to its uses as a de-icing agent.
Salt solution is also an excellent conductor of electricity and lends itself well to numerous industrial applications. A large proportion of salt sold in the UK also goes to the manufacturing industry where it is used in the production of various products from paper and plastic to soap and detergent.
Salt is available in a number of different grades/forms and we currently offer the following:
Granular Salt
Granular salt is of a high purity and available in rounded bead form. This product rapidly dissolves in water and is therefore an ideal water softener, working effectively in all commercial and industrial water softening or dishwashing units.
Fine Powder Food Grade Salt
Fine Powder (Food Grade) salt is suitable for a broad range of uses including in the manufacture of products including dyes and cosmetics through to being used in the water treatment, animal feed and food and drink industries.
This salt is made up of small granules allowing the product to free flow and dissolve rapidly in water and is a product sold primarily to be used for flavour enhancement and food preservation.
Pharmaceutical Salt
Pharmaceutical salt has a number of applications across this industry primarily within infusion solutions.
Salt Tablets
These salt tablets are well compacted so will not easily crumble or break. As a pure salt product, they provide excellent results when used in water softening.
