Potassium Perchlorate
Perchloric Acid
Potassium Perchlorate is a colourless inorganic salt, commonly found within propellants such as fireworks, sparklers, shotgun cartridges and pyrotechnics.
It belongs to the perchlorate family of salts and has the appearance of a white, crystalline sold. As this product is a strong oxidiser, it is capable of significant explosive force on reaction with organic compounds so primarily lends itself for use in the manufacture of various explosives in the mining and demolition industries due to the level of force the reactions create.
Along with use in propellants and explosives, potassium perchlorate is also used as a disinfection agent given its ability to inhibit or eliminate harmful organisms and leave surfaces sterile.
This product also has numerous applications in a variety of other industries including use in nuclear reactors, lubricating oils, dyes, enamels, paints and also in the manufacture of leather and rubber.
