Phosphoric Acid

Phosphoric Acid, also known as orthophosphoric acid is a colourless and odourless inorganic acid with the chemical formula H3PO4.

It is used in a number of different products including livestock feed, fertilisers, soaps, detergents, dyes and carbonated soft drinks.

It is used in the manufacture of sugar-based food products to sharpen taste as well as act as a preservative, slowing the growth of bacteria and mould. It is also used in dentistry as an etching solution to prepare teeth for dental appliances or in the whitening process to remove plaque from the surface of a tooth.

Other uses include as a pH adjuster in cosmetics, a dispersing agent in leather treatment and as a cleaner to eliminate mineral deposits.
