Hydrogen peroxide has many industrial applications, with its main use laying within the paper and pulp industry for the bleaching of materials. With its oxidising properties, hydrogen peroxide is much more harmonious with the environment than many other bleaches and is also widely used in the production of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and antiseptics.

Available in a wide variety of concentrations the most commercially available is 3% hydrogen peroxide which is a stable and extremely effective disinfectant when used on surfaces, capable of inactivating a broad spectrum of bacteria and viruses.
